Artist Statement
My work is about playing with the light, shapes, and I observe; the golden light of Jerusalem, the soft
shadows of Vancouver Island, the colorful vapors of New Zealand’s geysers, the intense tonalities of
Kauai’s valleys, all inspire me. I hope my created land- and mindscapes lead others to enjoy and
respect this amazing planet we live on.
The act of painting gives me intense joy. Painting has taught me to look at the world through a
different prism. After a life with numbers and equations, my brain is still readjusting every time I pick
up a brush and swirl it into paint. Each painting is a miracle.
After work as a physicist with the NASA Apollo Program, I got a master’s from the Wharton School at U
Penn, a CPA in Texas, and spent all my professional life with numbers. A friend persuaded me to start
painting. Studies in Chautauqua NY, Southwest School of Art & Coppini Academy in San Antonio built
my oeuvre in watercolor & acrylics.
Admission to Gentileschi Artemisia Gallery Association (GAGA) and getting juried in both watercolor
and acrylics at New Braunfels Art League broadened my horizons. Observing other women artists
remains an important influence.
My work hangs in collections in Texas, California, Colorado, Florida, New York, New Jersey, New
Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and abroad in Germany, Austria, and Mexico.
